  • (60s) - Beatles, Rolling Stones, the Doors, Jimi Hendrix, the Grateful Dead.
  • (70s) - David Bowie, Aerosmith, Steely Dan, Ramones.
  • (80s) - B-52s, the Pretenders, U-2, the Smiths, the Cure, Depeche Mode, the Clash, the English Beat, the Police.
  • (90s) - Nirvana, Soundgarden, Garbage, Sublime, Bush, Smashmouth.

A few Web sites that I consider interesting are:

• Roots World - a "magazine of the world's roots, folk, and pop music", it contains reviews of a wide variety of music genres - Salsa, Ska, Bhangra, Qawali, etc. Has links to: an Internet radio station, an on-line music store. Features audio samples of reviewed artists.
• Greg Palast - an American journalist in exile in Britain whose recent articles cover the coup attempt in Venezuela and the stolen election in Florida in 2000(covered at length in his book "The Best Democracy Money Can Buy".
• CounterPunch - the online version of Alexander Cockburn's journal of political analysis and commentary.
